Summary: The purpose of this study was to determine the text jargon in Short Messaging Services (SMS) among University of Cebu Second Year Commerce students for the second semester School Year 2006-2007 as basis for the development of a texting dictionary. Specifically the study aimed to answer the following questions: 1. What is the profile of the respondents in terms of : 1.1 Age 1.2 Gender 1.3 Status 2. Which of the different kinds of categories constitute the text jargon of the respondents? 3. Based on the findings of the study what output may be developed?
