"Employee engagement plays a critical role in enhancing organizational performance, particularly in the retail sector, where employees directly influence customer satisfaction and operational efficiency. This study assessed the level of employee engagement among retail store employees in Mandaue City, Cebu, and examine its relationship to their demographic profiles. The research utilized a descriptive correlational design and involved a sample of 32 employees from Novo retail store, selected using the z-score formula. Data were gathered through a research-made survey questionnaire, validated through a dry-run procedure to ensure reliability.
The study analyzed employee engagement across four areas: job assignment, attendance, customer service, and tolerance to work-related challenges. Results were processed using simple percentage analysis for demographic data, weighted mean for engagement levels, and the chi-square test of independence to determine the relationship between the demographics and engagement. Findings revealed the extent of employee engagement and highlighted no significant relationship between the respondents' profiles and their engagement levels.
Based on the findings, a proposed employee development plan was created to address engagement gaps and enhance work force performance. This study contributes to the literature by emphasizing the importance of tailored strategies to improve employee engagement in retail organizations. Ethical principles of beneficence, non-maleficence, justice, and autonomy were strictly observed throughout the study." --Abstract
