"Learning to balance social media usage and study habits was essential for students to achieve academic success. The purpose of this study was to determine the correlation between the Bachelor of Elementary Education students' behaviors towards the use of social media at the University of Cebu- Banilad Campus. The findings of this research study were the basis for a proposed brochure exploring different aspects of social media usage and its impact on academic achievements.
This research employed a descriptive-correlational design utilizing a modified standardized questionnaire to obtain relevant data. The procedure was conducted face-to-face to acquire detailed responses while strictly complying with health and safety protocols. The collected data were treated using simple percentage, weighted mean, pearson moment correlation coefficient, and chi-square test of independence. The findings revealed that most of the respondents were female students aged eighteen to twenty (18-20) years old. Ninety-one-point forty percent of the respondents used Facebook several times a day. averaging more than 2 hours daily. They primarily used Facebook for socializing with their friends and family, sharing personal updates and photos, and consuming news and information, and had a very good Grade Point Average (GPA).
The findings showed that there was a significant relationship between the respondents' profiles and their behaviors towards social media use. As a result, educators encouraged the responsible use of social media in students' learning processes. At the same time, school administrators supported teachers in integrating social media into their instructional approaches and classroom activities." —Abstract
