"The study examined the relationship between birth order and attachment styles among male criminology students at the University of Cebu-Banilad, addressing the theory that birth order influences personality and social behaviors. Aimed to identify common attachment styles across different birth orders, determine any significant relationships between these variables, and explore whether attachment styles vary based on age, family structure, or birth order.
Using a quantitative research design, the researchers gathered data from 227 respondents through a structured survey questionnaire that measured four attachment styles: secure, avoidant, anxious, and disorganized. Statistical analyses, including Chi-square and multivariate analysis of variance [MANOVA], were utilized to determine the significance of birth order in shaping these attachment tendencies.
The results revealed that middle children were most likely to exhibit secure attachment, while eldest children leaned toward avoidant attachment, and youngest children showed a higher prevalence of anxious attachment. Birth order was found to significantly influence attachment styles, whereas factors like age and family structure did not show a statistically significant impact. To support these findings, the researchers developed a psychoeducational infographic aimed at addressing emotional needs and promoting healthier attachment patterns based on birth order differences." —Abstract
