"Positive childhood experiences instill positive traits and characteristics in children such as resilience, making them better equipped to face hardships and difficulties. The aim of this paper was to determine the correlation of the positive childhood experiences and levels of resilience of education students of University of Cebu - Banilad Campus. This paper also gathered the demographic profile of the participants in terms of their age, sex, and year level. The level of the respondents' positive childhood experiences according to Bronfenbrenner's microsystem, mesosystem, exosystem, macrosystem and
chronosystem was also examined. The respondents' level of resiliency was also measured. The demographic profile of the respondents and their relationship with their level of positive childhood experiences and level of resiliency was also analyzed. The results of this paper will serve as basis for the creation of an intervention program aiming to enhance the students' overall level of resilience.
This study followed a descriptive-correlational research design to analyze the positive childhood scores and levels of resilience among College of Education students of University of Cebu Banilad. The data was gathered through the use of survey questionnaires. The data was treated with frequency count and percentage, weighted mean, Chi Square Test of Independence and Pearson's correlation coefficient. The results obtained from treating the data were used as a basis for the creation of a resiliency-enhancing intervention program for the College of Teacher Education students. In treating the data, frequency count and percentage, weighted mean, Chi Square Test of Independence and Pearson's correlation coefficient will be used. The researchers ensured that the ethics and principles of research such as beneficence, non-maleficence, justice, and autonomy were upheld and adhered to during the research proper.
Most of the respondents were female second-year education students aged eighteen to twenty-two. Findings suggest that the respondents' age and year level influenced their positive childhood experiences and their year level affected their resilience. Also, most education students have a moderately high level of positive childhood experiences and resiliency. In addition to that, it was found out that there is a strong correlation between positive childhood experiences and level of resiliency of the College of Education students." —Abstract
