Summary : Cebu province offers a wide range of recreational activities especially the preservation of their culture. Museo Sugbo serve as the spot where the people could have looked back the culture and history of the Cebuanos. The museum gives information about the changes up to present time. This study determines the cultural significance of Museo Sugbo upon visiting the museum and the possible problems that the visitor encountered.
This study utilized a descriptive-correlational research method using a researcher-made questionnaire. There were 57 visitors who were respondents of the study and who were chosen randomly. Statistical treatments used were: simple percentage and weighted mean and chi-square.
The findings revealed that majority of the respondents were young adults from 18-23 years of age, male, college graduate, married and majority of them was unemployed. The respondents perceived that the museum has a great significanceto the people as to their belief, cultural significance and contribution in the tourism industry. However, the study shows that there were problems encountered upon visiting the museum specifically in terms of robbers around the area. Thus, the curators should give efforts in sustaining the security of the museum to prevent robbers around the area. lastly, the museum should preserve its aesthetic beauty to sustain its cultural significance to the Cebuanos.
Thus, the researchers recommended that a sustainability plan should be implemented for the maintenance and further development of the site to preserve its cultural significance that will give a great progress of both government and tourism industry of Cebu.
