Summary: The researchers built the android based sign language translator glove with TTS (text-to-speech) feature device specifically for the welfare of the deaf mute and the non-deaf mute so as to help link the discontinuity between communities in sharing their thoughts through different ways. Since many people around the world suffer from speech problems and can't communicate with others in the same way we do it. For the hardware components the researchers used flex sensors, arduino uno and bluetooth module. Flex sensors serve as the input device. the arduino uno process the value sensor's bending when the user performs a hand gesture. The arduino will check the conditions wherein each letter corresponds to a specific value. Then it passes through the bluetooth module wherein it connects the arduino smart phone. For the software components the researchers used arduino IDE and an App Inventor for android. The researchers use the MIT App Inventor for displaying the letters in the smart phone to be followed by the TTS (text-to-speech) feature. After a series of tests, the researchers were able to acquire the following findings. First, the user should perform the proper execution of the hand gesture in order to display the correct letter. Second, flex sensors happens to experience fatigue if not properly handled. Third, the letters K,L,S,X and U could not be attained and lastly, the use of arduino UNO is bulky and quite uncomfortable to wear. However, the researchers were still able to display 82% of the alphabet in desired manner.
