Summary: Every person is presumed to know the law excuses no one from compliance therewith. The school policy is one form of law that yields its dominion among the students of an educational institution. It is a statement of expected behavior among the students and that non conformation to it would correspond to consequence (Duke, 1991:43). X College of Nursing has produced its own manual "designed to enlighten the parents and nursing students on the policies, regulations, and activities of the College. Similarly, it emcompasses explanation on the major areas of concern." The student manual serves as a guide and reference for the students, clinical instructors, and parents. Policies benefit from clear purposes that are made known, understood, and accepted by those subjected to these policies as well as those responsible in enforcing them (Gregorio, 1961:109). It is, therefore, imperative that students know the policies that govern them. Aside from the benefit of not having to face any consequence through avoidance generated upon knowing these rules or policies, awareness and understanding of the school policy is essential in increasing school effectiveness and student achievement. But do students know these policies? This study is geared towards determining the level of awareness of the students, specifically the BSN 3 students, on Academic Policies of X College of Nursing.
