Summary: With the increasing number of nursing demands abroad, fresh graduates of the secondary curriculum takes up the nursing profession taking the advantage of the increasing demand. However, gaining a job abroad is not an easy task. In the end, some graduates would end up working in jobs that may be or maybe not related to their profession. But, with the decreasing job openings in our country today, some would offer their services to the medical institution and work without receiving any form of payment. They become volunteer nurses. During our clinical experience we observed that the population of the volunteer nurses, twenty one, would almost exceed half of the population of the regular nurses, which is forty six. This data sparked our interest into knowing what really motivates these nurses and why they chose to be a volunteer instead of having option of being a regular nurse.
