Summary, etc Summary: This study determined the knowledge and prevention practices among the residents in an urbanized community. The study used a descriptive correlational research design using researcher made questionnaire. The 177 questionnaires were distributed to the residents in Sitio Sto. Niño and Sitio Mahayahay where they had their highest incidence of dengue cases. Questions pertained the respondent's profile, knowledge on dengue, and their prevention practices. The data were analyzed using simple percentage formula, weighted mean, and chi- square test of independence. The results of the study revealed that majority of our respondents's were female. single, employed, with salary of 1,000-5,000 pesos a month and were college graduates. Level of knowledge regarding the nature of dengue, signs and symptoms , complications, treatment or management has a fair result with a general average of 77.3. The respondents' dengue prevention and practices prescribed by DOH were always observed. Furthermore, there was a significant relationship between the respondents' profile aspect of civil status, employment status, and educational background and their knowledge on dengue. The researchers concluded taht the respondents' were fairly knowledgeable about dengue and their prevention practices were congruent to the practices prescribed by DOH. Recommendation involved the utilization of proposed action plan and a basis to determine the effectiveness of the prevention practices used by the community of Barangay Apas, Cebu City.
