Summary, etc Summary: This study was conducted to determine the subject-verb proficiency of first year criminology students as basis for remedial program. The researchers sought to answer queries about the profile of the respondents in terms of their age and gender. Moreover, the study also aimed to identify the common subject-verb agreement errors committed by the respondents. It also aimed to determine the respondents' English proficiency level in terms of S-V agreement. Furthermore, it also verified whether or not there was a significant relationship between the respondent's profile and their proficiency in subject-verb agreement. The researchers employed the descriptive-correlational design.
The research findings revealed that most of the respondents were females and they belong to the age bracket of 16-17. They had at least 5 SV rules as their common errors. It was further disclosed that most of them were in AVERAGE level when it comes to their SV proficiency level. It was also established that there was no significant relationship between the respondents' profile and their Subjevt-Verb agreement proficiency. It was then concluded that student respondents were average thus, they have sufficient knowledge of the SV rules.
It was therefore suggested that the respondents should motivate themselves to master the rules that they had difficulty through a thorough practice. They also suggested that future researchers should replicate the study but include teacher factor as another variabe.
