Summary, etc Summary: Teenage pregnancy is a common occurrence affecting millions of teenagers around the globe. The researchers aimed to identify the lived experiences of teen mothers in a selected barangay in Cebu City. This study utilized the qualitative phenomenological method of research. Informants of this study chosen by the researchers from 5 sites of a barangay with identified number of teenage pregnancies. The entire course of the interview was audio recorded with the permission given by our informants through informed consent. The information obtained from the interviews was transcribed, analyzed through thematic content analysis.
The main factors leading to teenage pregnancy were family problems and influence from peers. The initial emotional response by teenage mothers was fear which gradually turned into excitement. Adolescent mothers revealed their pregnancy first to their partners then to their families.n Relationship problems were leading concern during teenage pregnancy. Financial issues arose once the teenager become a parent. As adolescents transition from being a teenager to a young parent, a heightened sense of responsibility was significantly noted. Improved relationship with significant others and family acceptance and support were a frequent description with how the teenage mothers were treated before and after the pregnancy. Based on the findings of the study and the conclusions of the study, the researchers make the following recommendations, that student nurses will conduct health teachings and counseling on these vulnerable groups, barangay health center staff will educate adolescents about family planning
and early pregnancy and infant care, and that the future researchers will conduct further studies on teenage pregnancy, specifically: "Emotional impact of sudden role changes among adolescents males" and ";Coping mechanisms of teenage mothers with sudden role changes".
