This research
study utilized the quantitative research design using researcher-made questionnaires to
determine the preferred coping strategies of the elderly residing at Univille,Brgy.Kasambagan, Cebu City, with one hundred twenty-one (121) respondents using a random sampling method.
Simple sample formula and chi-square test of independence had been used in the data analysis. The majority of the respondents were between the ages of 65-73. There were more female
respondents than males, and the majority were married and retired. With the given aspects of coping strategies in this time of COVID19 pandemic- emotional, physical, mental, and spiritual -
the elderlies prefer a combination of emotional, physical, and spiritual coping.
