"Crime is a social phenomenon. This means that crime cannot be eliminated but can be controlled through crime prevention strategies which are effectively carried out by authorities. Crime is a serious issue that affects everyone in society. Crime prevention strategy refers to a systematic plan or approach designed to reduce and deter criminal activities within a community or society. It involves the development and implementation of measures aimed at addressing the root causes of crime, reducing opportunities for criminal behavior, and promoting public safety.<br/><br/>This study employed a descriptive correlational research design to determine the crime prevention strategies implemented in Barangay Ermita, Cebu City, as perceived by the respondents. A total of 392 residents were selected through a random sampling technique. Moreover, simple random sampling is a sort of probability sampling in which the researcher picks a selection of participants at random from a larger population, where every member of the population has the same probability of getting selected. Data is then gathered from the most significant possible percentage of this random sample. The following ethical considerations will be keenly observed in the study to ensure that respect for the respondents' personal lives and the rights of the vulnerable will be upheld. The research was conducted over five months in 2024.<br/><br/>The study revealed that the majority of the respondents were aged 29-39, predominantly male, and college graduates. Overall, the respondents expressed a satisfactory level of satisfaction with the crime prevention strategies implemented in Barangay Ermita, particularly in terms of police and barangay tanod visibility and response. Furthermore, the study found a significant relationship between the respondents' demographic profiles, such as age, gender, and educational attainment, and their perceptions of the effectiveness of crime prevention strategies in the community." |
