Domestic violence, a serious and widespread issue, affects people of all ages, ethnicity, faiths, and socioeconomic backgrounds. It is often concealed due to its "secrecy," as it is often seen as a personal family affair. In the United States, 1 in 4 women and 1 in 9 men experience contact sexual violence, physical violence, or stalking by an intimate partner. The negative impacts include injury, fear, safety concerns, and needing services. Domestic violence can happen to anyone regardless of employment, education, race, ethnicity, religion, marital status, physical ability, age, sex,gender identity, or sexual orientation. |
