"Effective personal financial management is essential for public school teachers, who often face financial challenges due to lower salaries. This study assessed their financial management practices and proposed specific actions for improvement, including a financial management quick guide.<br/><br/>Using a quantitative descriptive survey design, ninety-five public school teachers from five integrated schools in San Remigio, comprising fifty-nine elementary teachers and thirty-six junior high teachers, participated.<br/><br/>Results indicated that many elementary teachers were 33-38 and ranked as Teacher 3, while junior high teachers were 27-32 and mainly Teacher 1. Most respondents were female, married, with six to ten years of service and one to five dependents, indicating a stable workforce but highlighting challenges with turnover and adaptation to technology.<br/><br/>Additionally, the study found that both selected public school teachers exhibited low financial management practices in investing, mainly due to insufficient income limiting discretionary investment options. Teachers demonstrated moderate saving and budgeting practices, indicating an understanding of the importance of structured financial plans to mitigate unforeseen financial events. Conversely, they showed high levels of financial management in spending and debt management, prioritizing essential expenses and making informed purchasing decisions, aiming to maintain financial stability and enhance financial management.<br/><br/>Findings have also revealed a significant relationship between the selected public school teachers' profiles and financial management, with older, more experienced teachers making better decisions. Gender impacts practices, as female teachers are more cautious while males are more confident in taking risks. Married teachers demonstrate greater dedication to financial planning than single or divorced counterparts.<br/><br/>Rank and number of dependents significantly influence financial management practices among public school teachers, while age, gender, civil status, and years of service show minimal differences. Consequently, teachers display similar approaches to saving, investing, budgeting, and spending, with higher-ranking teachers typically enjoying better financial resources and practices." --Abstract |
