"Financial inclusion refers to the ability of underserved individuals and rural populations to access and utilize financial services such as savings accounts, loans, insurance, investments, and payment systems that enhance their quality of life, support broader economic goals, and promote agricultural development. The proposed Financial Inclusion Framework [FIF] for smallholder farmers is designed to assist local government units [LGUs], financial institutions, and farmers' associations in developing strategies to combat the rising issue of financial exclusion within the agricultural sector.<br/><br/>The research design utilized in this study is descriptive-correlational. To gather data, the study employed a researcher-made questionnaire seeking to answer queries about the profile of the smallholder farmers and their financial inclusion in terms of access, usage, quality, and welfare. A face-to-face survey was conducted among the one hundred fifty-two (152) smallholder farmers in selected barangays of Dalaguete, Cebu. The smallholder farmers were chosen using a purposive sampling technique. The data were then analyzed using frequency distribution, weighted mean, and Chi-Square test of independence, adhering to ethical principles of respect, beneficence, non-maleficence, justice, and autonomy.<br/><br/>The research showed that most smallholder farmers in Dalaguete, Cebu are males aged 37-43, with elementary education, have 10-19 years of farming experience, mainly cultivated cabbage, and a quarterly income ranging from P1,000 to P9,000. Revealed in this research is that there was low financial inclusion among these smallholder farmers in terms of access, usage, and quality, and a moderate financial inclusion in terms of welfare. Moreover, a significant relationship was found between the financial inclusion of smallholder farmers in Dalaguete, Cebu when grouped according to profile. The study concluded that low financial inclusion leaves smallholder farmers vulnerable to economic downturns, limits their access to credit, and hinders their ability to invest, all of which stressed the importance of a well-executed and tailored application of the proposed financial inclusion framework [FIF] to equip farming communities with essential financial tools and resources that support sustainable growth and improve livelihood." --Abstract |
