"<br/>The war on drugs, a global issue, has had a significant impact on individuals and institutions worldwide. In the Philippines, this problem has been particularly prevalent, affecting various segments of society, including students, workers, and government employees. The widespread use of drugs has led to an increase in crime rates, as users often engage in criminal activities to support their addiction.<br/><br/>This study employed a descriptive-correlational survey research design to investigate the effects of the war on drugs on crime rates in Sitio Masaba, Barangay Tagba-o, Cebu City. A questionnaire was used to collect data from 132 randomly selected locals aged 18-65 years old, residing in Barangay Tagba-o. The dry run procedure was conducted at Barangay Sirao, Cebu City, to ensure the reliability and validity of the survey instruments. For the dry run examination, 30 respondents were selected to test the questionnaire's reliability.<br/><br/>Most respondents were 18-29 years old; 50.8% were male, and 49.2% were female; 56.8% were unemployed, 43.2% were employed; 40.9% were unemployed single, and 59.1% were married. The President's war on drugs has a grand mean of 2.95, interpreted as moderately agree. Many drug cases were filed in 2015, and in 2016-2021, they decreased due to the implementation of the War on Drugs campaign. The results unveiled that the profile of the respondents such as age, gender, employment status, and civil status have no significant relationship with their assessment on the effects of the war on drugs of the former President in the year 2016-2022 in the crime rates of sitio masala barangay Tagba-o Cebu City. The results of this study will provide valuable insights into the relationship between the war on drugs and crime rates in the area, shedding light on potential solutions to address this pressing issue.<br/>" —Abstract |
