"Fire safety remains an essential component of community resilience, especially in areas with diverse residential structures and numerous fire incidents. Despite the Subangdaku Fire Sub-station's efforts to implement fire safety programs in Barangays Bakilid, Banilad, Cabancalan, Maguikay, and Subangdaku, it remains unclear how effectively these initiatives strengthen residents awareness, prevention practices, preparedness, and mitigation behaviors. This study was conducted to assess the community's perception of the Fire Safety Program and to develop a proposed community fire safety action plan based on resident needs and research findings. This study used a descriptive-correlational research design and was conducted in the five barangays served by he Subangdaku Fire Sub-station. A total of 382 respondents were selected through purposive sampling from barangay voting populations. A researcher-created questionnaire was used to gather information on respondents' demographic profiles and their perceptions of the fire safety program regarding prevention, preparation, and mitigation. A dry run, along with Cronbach's alpha, was used to determine reliability. To determine significant relationships between demographic variables and program assessment, the data were analyzed using frequency and percentage distribution, weighted mean, and the chi-square test of independence. The findings revealed that, in terms of profile, most of the respondents were<br/><br/>between forty-two (42) to forty-seven (47) years old, predominantly male, single, long-term residents of six (6) years and above, and college graduates. Overall, the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) fire safety program at the Subangdaku Fire Sub-station was rated fair in prevention and preparation, and satisfactory in mitigation. Statistical analysis showed no significant relationship between fire prevention strategies and respondents' age, civil status, length of residency, and highest educational attainment, although a significant relationship was found with gender. Similarly, no significant relationships were observed between fire preparation strategies and respondents' age, gender, civil status, length of residency, or highest educational attainment. In contrast, fire mitigation strategies showed no significant relationships with age, civil status, length of residency, or highest educational attainment, but a significant relationship was found with gender." —Abstract |
