Summary : The cultural heritage sites are gaining popularity and these are the living proof of the past and the culture it holds.

This study used a descriptive research design and a survey tool with a sample size of 101 to assess the level of compliance of Fort San Pedro to the Republic Act No. 10066 (An Act Providing for the Protection and Conservation of National Cultural Heritage Site). The data collected from the visitors and curator was analyzed sing the simple percentage and weighted mean. The results revealed that as perceived by the visitors, the Fort San Pedro had been highly complied with the said law in terms of protecting and conserving the cultural heritage site. Also, as perceived by the curator, the Fort San Pedro had been highly complied with the protection, preservation, conservation and promotion of the cultural heritage site and with the establishment and strengthening of cultural institution. But it only had been just moderately complied with the protection of cultural workers and ensuring their professional development and well-being. It is concluded that Fort San Pedro was well maintained and conserved by the curator and the local government of Cebu City but sustaining the site might be a problem. It is recommended that a proposed program called "Moving Forward" implemented to ensure the continuous protections and conservation of the Fort San Pedro. |
