Summary, etc Summary: A growing number of employees and newly graduates must be fully equipped with knowledge and skills to be competitive in their respective field. Investment on tertiary education serves as the foundation that prepares the students for their future careers (Alday et al. 2007). While the hospitality and tourism industry has better job prospects in the next few years, job requirements have become more competitive than before. Knowing the employment facts and figures of the Philippines in the tourism industry spurred the researchers to conduct this study. This determined the employability of the 216 Hotel and Restaurant Management graduates of University of Cebu- Banilad. It utilized descriptive research design using purposive random sampling. The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Graduate tracer study was modified and used in gathering the data. The data were statistically treated using simple percentage and ranking. The findings of the study showed that most of the respondents are female, single and from region VII. For the reasons in taking the course, most of them were taking the course due to the opportunity for employment abroad. Majority of them were employed in a contractual basis locally as food and beverage attendants particularly in hotels and restaurants earning a minimum wage. Communication skills were utilized by majority of the respondents followed by human relation and entrepreneurial skills. The researchers concluded that the graduates were highly employed. The researchers recommend that a follow up graduate tracer study should be made in order to determine the employability of the remaining graduates, schools should establish linkage with possible employers abroad and trainings and seminars must be given to faculty and staff trainings and seminars to keep them updated with the competencies required in the industry students to improve employment opportunity of the students not just locally but internationally.
