Summary, etc Summary:Spelling is one of the most useful lifelong skills and it builds the basis foundation that all students need throughout their education and life.Learning how to spell is very important. It involves other basic skills, including reading, writing, and essential communication skill specifically in written communication. These skills support students in achieving satisfactory results and help them excel in various grades. The primary purpose of this study was to determine the spelling literacy of third year BSED English students at the University of Cebu- Banilad.<br/>This study used random sampling technique and utilized a descriptive correlation design. This study was conducted at an educational institution the University of Cebu- Banilad. The test in an objective type and used modified survey pertaining to perception on spelling and a test on orthographic pattern in spelling which measures spelling literacy. The data was treated using simple percentage, weighted mean and chi square.<br/>The results showed that students were having difficulty in spelling. It was being manifested that most students were poor in spelling literacy. Likewise, there was no significant relationship between the respondents profile and spelling literacy and there was no significant relationship between the respondents profile spelling literacy and perceptions on spelling. However, it was concluded that spelling should be strengthened through spelling enhancement module which is one best method in the improvement of spelling literacy of the students.
