520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc Summary: For the past five years, the UC Banilad Faculty were insufficiently able to comply with the institutional requirement that a faculty member must come up with a research work. Despite the research grants and stipends provided by the college faculty did research projects.
Research is needed to determine the best classroom approach. Faculty members need to rise to the opportunities presented by this cohort and consider challenging them to become a new breed of leaders in their field of discipline.
This study is anchored on two theories: Patricia Benner's Skill Acquisition and Clayton Alderfer's ERG theory which identifies three human needs: existence (E), relatedness (R), growth (G). These needs are active in all human beings but come in varying degrees at different times. Existence needs refer to all forms of material and physiological needs such as food, clothing, shelter, pay, good working conditions. Relatedness needs refer to all forms of relationship such as family, co-workers, subordinates, superiors, friends and enemies. Growth needs refers to the desire to improve one's self and his environment.
In terms of age, majority of the respondent belong to the age bracket of 25-29 years old. As to civil status, majority of the faculty are married. Mostly, the faculties are with master's units, and most of the faculties were full-time and non-tenured.
The faculties are highly motivated, in terms of fringe benefits in the existence factors. In terms of growth factors, the respondents are highly motivated in terms of the opportunities to grow professionally and the advancement.
The researcher concludes that the faculties are young, competent and their capabilities to conduct research were influenced by their motivation. Among the motivation factors, the existence factors highly motivate the faculty. Therefore, research will be produced by the faculty when they will be motivated in terms of monetary incentives.
Based on the findings of the study, the researcher recommends that the proposed intervention plan be implemented to enhance the competence of the faculties in conducting research.
