Summary: "Oplan Tokhang" is a project of Philippine National Police (PNP). This national law enforcement project was implemented all over the country. A Visayan word, "TOKHANG" means to approach and talk. This project was launched as part of the campaign to warn illegal drug traffickers and users to stop their activities. This study focused on the (negative and positive) effects on the families of barangay Pulpogan, Consolacion Cebu. The findings will help the barangay to make effective programs to keep the families tight their relationship and to prevent using illegal drugs.<br/>This study used the descriptive-correlation design. The study was conducted in Sitio Lumbang barangay Pulpogan Consolacion Cebu with the family members as the research respondents, with a total of 100 respondents. The sampling technique used was a random sampling. The research procedure starts from the gathering of data were transmittal letters were addressed to the Campus Director, Dean of the College of Criminology and to the barangay captain. A researcher-made questionnaire was utilized to gather data regarding the effects to the family, children, family relationship, and police relationship to the community. Chi-square test of independence was used to determine the significant relationship between the respondents' profile and the effects Oplan Tokhang to the family, effects to the children, relationship of the family, and police relationship to the community if Sitio Lumbang, Barangay Pulpogan, Consolacion, Cebu.<br/>Based on the findings showed that in the range of age 18-28 majority answered yes, in the range 29-39 majority answered yes, in the range 40-50 majority, yes, and in the range of age 51 and above majority said yes. In the gender profile of the respondent, both male and female majority answered yes. In the number of family members and their perceive on effects of Oplan Tokhang in a family compose of 1-4 they answered yes, in the family member of 5-8 they answered yes, while in a family composed of 9 or above majority answer yes, it means that the Oplan Tokhang program of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte is effective means of lowering the crime rate in the Philippines. Therefore researchers conclude that the people in Sitio Lumbang, Barangay Pulpogan, Concolacion, Cebu was aware of what is truly the meaning of Oplan Tokhang, it's purpose, and the importance of the program. |
