Most home burglaries happen during a day where the home owner may not be around. Security is becoming essential to our lives and daily activities at work, school, and at home. The purpose of this study is to make a system that will eliminate the use of keys, detects and captures an unknown person, and the ability to notify the home owner to give them peace of mind. These are the problems to be solved by this research. First, the hassle of using keys in opening the door and the misplacement of keys. Second, having a manually operated door-lock mechanism is not that secure. Lastly, the door-lock mechanism might be easily damaged because of the poor quality of the door knobs. The system will have these essential features in order to solve the problems. A fingerprint scanner, to identify the person who wants to enter. A solenoid lock that willserve as an automatic locking mechanism. And lastly, the IP camera and GSM Module that will serve as the communication between the system and the home owner. This system is entitled Smart Home Authentication, Detection, and Efficiency System (SHADES).
