Summary: "This textbook is designed for Filipino students taking up an undergraduate course in economics, whether under social sciences or business. The title, Managerial Economics in the 21st Century, was chosen to highlight that the textbook involves contemporary issues related to the study of the subject matter. Various media have reported that economics has been a common topic among Filipinos, especially among the youth, who perceive such topic as a very important issue. However, studies have explained that our fellowmen do not have sufficient understanding of the state of our economy. This motivated the author to create a resource that shall augment this awareness among our fellow Filipinos and hopefully aid them in taking a more involved participation in discussions, decisions, and actions toward a better economy. The textbook gives an overview of how to think like an economist and apply the fundamental business economic concepts and principles, such as demand and supply, elasticity, cost of production, and utility. It delves further into consumer behavior, international economy, and banking in the Philippines. Other social science topics, such as agrarian reform and inflation, are also covered. End of chapter activities are also provided to assess the student's level of understanding." --Preface
