Because of the sudden shift from face-to-face classes to virtual classes, some students had difficulty adapting to the new normal. This study's purpose was to identify the stress level experienced by the first-year nursing students and their strategies to improve their mental health during the pandemic. A simple random sampling method was used to collect data on a sample of 148 first-year nursing students. The survey was conducted using two researchers-constructed questionnaires distributed through google forms. The first part of the questionnaire was a ten-item identified the respondent's perceived stress and the second questionnaire was a twenty-eight-item questionnaire based on the Brief-Cope Inventory by Carver (1197). The survey's participants mostly were females aged 18 to 31. Furthermore, the first-year nursing students enrolled in a university were moderately stressed during the Covid-19 pandemic. according to the study's findings, and the study revealed that active coping, religion, and positive reframing were the top three techniques used by the first-year nursing students to cope with stress. In order to deal with the recent pandemic these students practice being good citizens as individuals. They are not only goof citizens, but they also find that being spiritual or devoted to their beliefs can help them divert their worries about the pandemic. The nursing students are confident that these strategies can help them minimize stress from online classes during the pandemic. Based on the study's findings, the researchers' recommendations are: (1) the researchers must present their study's findings to the Dean and faculty of the College of Nursing the University of Cebu - Banilad, and guidance counselor, and suggest that the proposed action plan be implemented, and (2) and that students get involves in a student organization.Item type | Current location | Call number | Status | Date due | Barcode |
