The study aims to comprehensively describe virtual bookkeepers' lived experience and challenges with QuickBooks Online and how it affects their work effectiveness. The study utilized a quantitative phenomenological research approach using a research-made instrument and applied an Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA) for data analysis. The seven (7) participants who are virtual bookkeepers situated in Luzon Philippines, were chosen using the convenience sampling technique. Also, the researchers observed and adhered to the ethical principles of research in the conduct of the study. After an intensive interpretation of the data, the following themes emerged, a) positive experiences, b) challenges, and c) effects of the challenges in the work performance of the virtual bookkeepers. The findings revealed that the participants recognized the positive experiences they encountered while using QuickBooks Online, such as the accessibility and user-friendliness of the software. The participants disclosed their challenges in using QuickBooks Online, such as the software being prone to human error, having transaction-related issues, and manual checking inconveniences. Virtual bookkeepers also divulged their challenges had a time-consuming effects on their work performance. Moreover, the proponents of the study recommended having a deeper understanding and knowledge of the concepts of QuickBooks Online. Improving their bookkeeping skills will most likely help address and alleviate the challenges of the virtual bookkeepers in using QuickBooks Online to provide better bookkeeping services to the clients.
