Summary: "You have probably heard about the great scientific and social dilemma called global warming or climate change. The climate has changed many times in the past, but this time it is changing rapidly because of chemicals that humans are adding to the atmosphere. Scenes of flooding and storms show us just how much weather and climate can affect our lives. Over the next decades, it is predicted that billions of people, particularly those in developing countries, face shortages of water and food and greater risks to health and life as a result of climate change. Concentrated global action is needed to enable developing countries to adapt to the effects of climate change that are happening now and will worsen in the future. Addressing climate change is one of the biggest global challenges of the 21st century. The average global tempera-ture on the earth's surface is continuously increasing due to even higher carbon dioxide (CO2) and other greenhouse gas concentrations in the atmosphere, the impacts of which are already evident today. If global warming continues unchecked, it is likely to exceed the adaptive capacity of natural, managed and social systems. Assessing the impacts of and vulnerabilli-ty to climate change and subsequently working out adaptation needs requires good quality information. This course includes changes in climate, such as temperature, rainfall and the frequency of extreme events, and non-climatic data, such as the current situation on the ground for different sectors including water resources, agriculture and food security, human health, terrestrial ecosystems and biodiversity, and coastal zones. In this course, the students will know the climate and associated factors of climate change. It aims to inspire leamers in striving harder by developing a sense of responsibility and commitment as they go along with the course. The content coverage is in seven units under four sections. The Book comes with a companion DVD for rich learning experience, which includes: 1. E-Book with further reading and learning links. 2. Interactive E-lecture of each chapter. E-lectures are expressive, informational, entertaining and persuasive, it uses the tool of self-exploration, which makes it easy to learn and understand each topic in detail. It is very informative as concrete details are provided and also entertaining, as graphics and other visuals are provided to make the learning process more interactive. 3. Video Lecture of each chapter, which explains each topic in detail with examples, animations, images and text and makes it easy to understand the topics in easier, simpler and better way. 4. Huge Database of Interactive Assessments for each chapter, which is also printable. 5. Further reading and learning links for each topic. 6.
