They have had to adapt to changing customer needs and shifting market trends. While this brings new opportunities, it also involves dealing with rising costs and increased competition. Despite these challenges, public fruit vendors continue to play a vital role in providing fresh, healthy produce. With continued adaptation, they can thrive in an increasingly complex and competitive landscape. The study evaluates the pricing management practices employed by fruit vendors. These vendors face various challenges in setting their prices in the public market. The study aims to explore their experiences in pricing fresh farm-sourced fruits, fresh supplier-sourced fruits, and overripe or spoiled fruits. It also examines the pricing strategies used by fruit vendors in response to stiff competition, supply volatility, and seasonal changes.
This study utilized an exploratory case study approach, aided by a self-designed interview guide that underwent a thorough content validation process to ensure the integrity of the research instrument. This approach was employed to gain a deeper understanding of the pricing practices and challenges faced by fruit vendors. The study was conducted among selected fruit vendors at Ramos Public Market in Cebu City. Transmittal letters and informed consent forms were secured before interviewing twelve (12) fruit vendors. The researchers had sought permission and obtained a certificate to conduct the study and gather data. The information collected is subjected to thematic analysis. The researchers ensure that the study adheres to ethical principles of research.
