"This textbook entitled Trends, Networks and Critical Thinking in the 21st Century Culture, was made for Senior High School students in Grade 12 who have plans to pursue tertiary education via the Humanities and Social Sciences (HUMSS) Strand. The Department of Education (DepEd) provides the subject description for this course as:

The course provides opportunities for students to discover patterns and extract meanings from emerging trends. It aids in developing their critical and creative thinking skills-essential tools for decision making and understanding "ethics of care." Global trends in the 21st century are examined and are either accepted or rejected on a sound set of criteria. Students will be asked to create and analyze scenarios that will challenge them to (1) formulate their stances on issues and concerns; (2) propose interventions; and (3) formulate alternative futures. The srodents will realize the interconnections between their neural and social realities.

Given this, the main objectives of the course can be broken down into three points:

1. discover patterns and analyze and derive meaning from trends,

2. develop critical thinking, and

3. understand ethics of care

In this light, the entirety of this textbook is divided into five units. The first two units, namely, Den 2. Hasdang Trending: Understanding Trends and How They Go Trending and Unit II: You Are Now Coronected Undersanding Networks and Linkager introduce the students to the various factors that played a part in the development of the 21st-century culture which the students are expected to understand and scrutinize. They also feature a number of issues relating to the 21st-century culture. The next two units, namely, Unit III: Critical Thinking Revisited and Unit IV: The Ethics of Care touch on a variety of global trends that exist in the 21st century which the students are expected to analyze. examine, critique, and evaluate using their critical thinking and moral reasoning skills. Finally, the last unik. Unit V. Orinical Thinking in the 21st Century: Moving Towards the Future" gives challenging scenarios wherein wudents can apply what they have learned in the previous units by making personal
