Violence against women and children is a severe public health issue with societal consequences. Although all people are vulnerable to violence, women and children are more vulnerable because they frequently have less rights or lack enough protection. Certain forms of violence are socially or legally accepted in some communities such as cultural practices, which may heighten the risk to women and children. In addition, the World Health Organization stated that these violence and abused can be contextualized via sexual violence, intimate partner violence, child abuse and neglect, bullying, teen dating violence, trafficking, and elder abuse when directed towards women and children which can also happen anywhere may it be from the home, school, among peers, in social media and even in the community.

Whatever the circumstances maybe, it is primordial that children and women are protected from any forms of violence, exploitation, gender based discrimination and abuses, even conflicts and disasters. Alliance among agencies and advocates may also prove necessary to a more effective preventive measures in guarding these vulnerable groups.

This course will focus specifically on the risk and protective factors of delinquent juveniles which are relative variables that may encourage or encumber the development of delinquency among these young people. It will also cover the basic but comprehensive procedures on intervention when dealing with children in conflict with the law and children atrisks towards their best interest and their reformation and integration in the community. Moreover, this course will include intuitions on the advocation and protection of women's rights.

This handbook is designed to make its readers particularly advocates of women and children rights as well as criminologists, law enforcers and students to fully understand the concepts, nature, causes and development of delinquency among juveniles. It will also provide significant insights on legal provisions dedicated to protecting juveniles and women that are significantly vital in managing and protecting them.

Violence against these vulnerable groups can be and should be barred; educating the community and social agents, monitoring the proper management, and dealing appropriately with these groups will aid in protecting the rights of women and children, thus ensuring a more secure future for them leading to an empowered nation free of discrimination and violence." —Preface
