In this book, it is emphasized that the public trusts law en-forcement organizations to carry out their duties in an ethical, re-sponsible, and efficient manner. Effective crime prevention and community policing depend on this. Generally speaking, law en-forcement agencies that consistently uphold ethics are more effec-tive and foster a climate of mutual respect between citizens and police officers.
