"This book is a result of conversations between the senior author and Kevin Davis, Executive Editor at Prentice Hall/Merrill Both felt the need for an educational pry chology casebook that placed a heavy emphasis on learning and instruction and that contained the best cases from three previous casebooks Case Studies for Teacher Decision-Making Professional Core Cases for Teacher Decision-Making, and Educational Psychology Cases for Teacher Decision-Making The current vol ume is the result and is presented as a second edition of Educational Prychology Cases, although it contains only 11 of the cases originally presented in the first edi tion. Ten cases were taken from Professional Core Cases, and nine from Case Stud-tes. Since Dr. Tom Fillmer, Professor Emeritus at University of Florida, and Dr. For-rest Parkay, Professor at Washington State University, had served as coauthors of the previous volumes, they also served in the same capacity for this book.

The 30 cases presented in this book are based on actual teaching situations con-tributed by many teachers from several states as either the "most difficult" or "most frequently recurring case they had faced. All names of people and places have been changed, and all cases have deliberately been left open-ended, problem centered, and unresolved in order to provoke stimulating discussion, analysis, and decision making.
