This study evaluated the phytochemical composition and antifungal activity of the ethanolic bark extract of Cinnamomum mindanaense (EEC) against Candida albicans. Qualitative phytochemical screening detected alkaloids, flavonoids, tannins, and saponins. Antifungal activity was assessed using the Kirby-Bauer disk diffusion method at extract concentrations of 25%, 50%, 75%, and 100%, with Nystatin and 10% DMSO as positive and negative controls, respectively. The 25% concentration produced no measurable inhibition. The 50% concentration produced a zone of inhibition comparable to Nystatin, while the 75% and 100% concentrations produced larger zones of inhibition than the positive control, with no statistically significant difference between them. These findings suggest a concentration-dependent antifungal effect of EEC against C, albicans in vitro, supporting further investigation through MIC, MFC, and cytotoxicity studies before any clinical inference can be made." --Abstract
