This paper assessed the training needs of the clinical instructors of the College of Nursing of the University of Cebu-Banilad to come up with a comprehensive faculty development plan. Using purposive sampling method, there were twenty-four (24) clinical instructors who were the respondents of this study. To analyze the data on the respondents profile simple percentage was used while weighted mean was used to analyze the data on the training needs of the clinical instructors. The finding showed that the clinical instructors needed training on safe and quality nursing care, teaching techniques and strategies knowledge on the legal responsibilities, communication skills and research methods. The true respond to the real needs of being an instruments of learning, clinical instructors should be both proficient and professional aspects of a healthcare provider as well as teaching. Thus trainings on the effective methods of safe and quality nursing care and teaching techniques and research are of significance so that effective teaching learning in the nursing education arena will be attained. Thus, universities should conduct a training needs assessment on it teaching staff and develop a comprehensive faculty development plan. So the clinical instructors would be competent in conveying and transmitting knowledge. A faculty development plan would be devised to address that training gap of the teaching force.
