Summary: Summary: The objective of this study was to identify the level of knowledge among expectant mothers about newborn screening. It aimed to identify the need of appropriate health education in enhancing expectant mothers' knowledge and increasing their maternal confidence, thereby promoting health and decreasing neonatal or infant mortality. The study utilized the descriptive-correlational design. The researchers gathered thirty-five pregnant mothers of Baranggay Hipodromo as respondents in the study. There were pre-specified criteria for choosing these respondents. The main instrument availed in the study was the researcher-made survey questionnaire. The questionnaire has 15 items with answers that the selected mothers must choose for themselves. Most of the respondents belonged to the age bracket of 19-24 years old. Further, majority of them were single, highschool graduates and had a blue collar job during the conduct of the study. The level of knowledge of expectant mothers on newborn screening was moderate. The results yielded significant relationships between age, civil status, educational attainment, and economic status to the level of knowledge of expectant mothers on newborn screening. On the other hand, occupation did not have a significant relationship between the expectant mothers' knowledge level. It was concluded that the level of knowledge of expectant mothers was affected by various factors which include age, civil status, educational attainment and economic status. These factors are significant for expectant mothers' compliance to health services since these are also crucial for mothers' perceived benefits in complying newborn screening. Therefore, researchers recommend that emphasis on health teachings and education must be given an utmost importance. The researchers also recommend that further related studies regarding newborn screening must be done by the future researchers.
