The elderly are part of the vulnerable group and should be paid close attention, especially with their mental health status. A collaboration with the barangay, the public health nurses, and the community should ensure that the community has cared. This research study utilized the quantitative research design using researcher-made questionnaires to determine the preferred coping strategies of the elderly residing at Univille,Brgy.Kasambagan, Cebu City, with one hundred twenty-one (121) respondents using a random sampling method. Simple sample formula and chi-square test of independence had been used in the data analysis. The majority of the respondents were between the ages of 65-73. There were more female respondents than males, and the majority were married and retired. With the given aspects of coping strategies in this time of COVID19 pandemic- emotional, physical, mental, and spiritual - the elderlies prefer a combination of emotional, physical, and spiritual coping. In terms of emotional coping strategies, the elderly chose to listen to their favorite music and spend a lot of company time with kids/pets. For the physical form of coping, the elderly preferred doing tasks and chores around the house. In consideration of spiritual coping, the elderly prayed to relieve emotions. Based on the research findings, the researchers planned to conduct a seminar on elderlies Barangay Kasambagan to educate aboout the relevance of coping strategies and their benefits and provide ideas and activities that could enhance coping strategies and improved quality of living ER -
