N2  - Tetanus is an acute infectious disease caused by spores of the bacterium Clostridium tetani. In the absence of proper services against tetanus, the disease dramatically affects people globally. This study aims to identify the level of knowledge of the residents on tetanus infection and how this information can then be used to develop targeted interventions aimed at reducing the risk of tetanus in Sitio Dumpsite, Soong, Barangay Mactan, Lapu-lapu City.

Most of the respondents are aged 31-35 years old, high school graduates and have received 0 tetanus toxoid vaccines. Moreover, they had moderate level of knowledge in terms of mode of transmission and prevention strategies on tetanus infection. Tests were unable to detect the association or difference of the profile of the respondents and their knowledge on tetanus infection. It is possible that the association is real, but there are not enough observations.

This study will utilize a descriptive-correlational research design and utilizing a researcher-made questionnaire to collect data. The study will utilize a sample size of 335 respondents computed from a total population of 2,594 using the Slovin's formula with a 5% margin of error using a simple random sampling. The study will select respondents based on criteria such as living near a dumpsite area, being an active voter, being at least 18 years old and currently a senior high school student, and willing to give voluntary consent
