xiii,134 pages : color illustrations ; The ability to administer immediate and effective first aid is crucial in improving survival rates and recovery outcomes during emergencies. However, first aid and proficiency among young adults remains a concern, with studies highlighting gaps in knowledge, confidence, and training accessibility. This study assessed the first aid proficiency of young adults in Sitio Almers, Barangay Tabok, Mandaue City, focusing on their ability to manage common emergencies such as bleeding, sprains and strains, and burns. Despite the presence of an emergency response system through Barangay Tabok's Disaster Alert Response Team (DART) and the local health center, the community remains highly vulnerable to hazards such as fires and flooding due to its dense population, narrow walkways, and proximity to the Butuanon River. Given that young adults are often the first responders in emergencies, this study aimed to evaluate their readiness to provide timely and effective care while identifying critical gaps in first aid skills that could be addressed through community-based training programs.
