"Vasectomy is one of the leading choices for male contraception. It is a safe and effective mode for preventing pregnancy. The limited knowledge and misinformation surrounding vasectomy led to its lower levels of use among Filipino males despite its efficacy. The researchers investigated the differences of knowledge, attitudes, and perceptions (KAP) towards vasectomy among two single male population groups, healthcare workers and laymen. A modified KAP questionnaire was used to score both groups in the three categories. It was shown that healthcare workers had scored higher in knowledge in the practice of vasectomy, which may be influenced by media introduced as professionals in the healthcare field. Conversely, laymen have exhibited a generally more positive attitude towards vasectomy. Health care professionals scored slightly higher in perception of vasectomy, suggesting a more favorable view of vasectomy as a male contraceptives among single male health care professionals. The questions designed to assess the KAP scores showed that the knowledge of the respondents were negatively associated (p=0.29) while both attitudes and perceptions are significantly associated (p=0.014 & p=0.006, respectively).
