"Mosquitoes are a big problem in the Philippines. They carry diseases and they reproduce very quickly. To fight them, people usually use commercially available insecticides. However, these insecticides may be harmful to the people using them. This research paper aims to prove the efficacy of lemongrass as an insecticide so that more people can have access to this easily and without putting their health at risk. The researchers first irst prepared two boxes and one one jar. 6 mosquitoes were then added to all three. The first and second boxes were sprayed with the alternative insecticide and commercialized insecticide respectively, while the jar was kept the same. The containers were observed every 10 minutes for an hour and the researchers tallied how many mosquitoes died in each container. It was found that no mosquito died in the jar with no insecticide, while 3 died in the box sprayed with the commercialized insecticide, and 4 died in the box sprayed with the alternative insecticide. These results show that P-value = 0.001342 which is lesser than a = 0.005, meaning that there is a significant difference between the alternative insecticide and the commercialized insecticide.
