N2  - "Grammatical ability is a fundamental communication component that measures the degree to which grammar is comprehended and utilized. It entails rule application, such as the rules concerning the organization of sentences and punctuation marks and their correct use in speech and writing. As an example of a writing assistant, Grammarly helps its users improve their texts by correcting the most frequently made language errors and stylistic inconsistencies in the writing. The program gives constructive advice and critique on using proper written communication in the most optimal way possible. Recent studies and research articles suggested that Grammarly effectively improve writing skills, including grammatical proficiency. This study determined the efficacy of Grammarly in enhancing grammatical abilities among Senior High School students at the University of Cebu-Banilad Campus, SHS Building, S.Y. 2023-2024. The study results were the basis for a proposed course guide with a module integrating Grammarly into the Reading and Writing class.
This study utilized a quasi-experimental research design with no control group to obtain the needed data using a researcher-made questionnaire. The study included forty-four (44) Grade 11 Senior High School students selected through purposive sampling. The data underwent analysis using frequency count, simple percentage, chi-square, and t-test.
The study's findings revealed that most of the research participants were female students, and all participants attended private schools. In the pretest, the majority of research participants demonstrated excellent grammatical ability. After the intervention addresing their common grammar mistakes based on their pretest Grammarly results, most achieved outstanding grammatical ability in the posttest. Moreover, there was a significant relationship between the participants' grammatical abilities in the pretest and posttest. Also, there was a significant change in the pretest and postest result of the participants' grammatical scores. Hence, addressing grammar-related issues thanks to Grammarly improved the grammatical score of the participants significantly. This led to the proposal of a course guide with a module integrating Grammarly in the Reading and Writing subject, implying that digital riting tools like Grammarly foster grammar learning." —Abstract
