"Social belongingness is the feeling of acceptance and inclusion within social groups built through meaningful connections. This study explores the relationship between social belongingness and self-esteem among first-year BS Tourism Management students at the University of Cebu - Banilad Campus. Establishing social connections with friends is crucial as it enhances self-efficacy, flexibility to adjust to a new environment, and personal growth and development. The study's output was to create a Guidance Program consisting of intervention strategies that enhance self-esteem and promote social inclusion among first-year BSTM students.

This paper used a descriptive-correlational research design to analyze the relationship between social belongingness and self-esteem among the first-year Bachelor of Science in Tourism Management students at the University of Cebu-Banilad Campus. The researchers utilized the researcher-made and modified survey instruments throughout the study's commencement. In treating the data, frequency counts, percentages, weighted means, and chi-square test of independence were used. The researchers ensured that the core ethical principles of beneficence, non-maleficence, justice, and autonomy were followed and adhered to throughout the study.

This study examined the link between social belongingness and self-esteem among first-year Bachelor of Science in Tourism Management students at the University of Cebu-Banilad Campus. Results showed no significant correlation between psychological state and self-esteem, but belonging antecedents were positively related to self-esteem, emphasizing the impact of social connections. Most respondents were female, had fewer than ten friends, and moderately valued social activities. While self-esteem was generally high, social belongingness levels varied. Demographics showed no significant link to self-esteem. The findings highlight the need for supportive academic environments to promote student well-being and integration." —Abstract
