N2  - "The Scene of the Crime Operative [SOCO] plays a vital role in preserving crime scenes and ensuring justice through investigation, evidence collection, and forensic examination. However, personnel assigned to the Regional Forensic Unit 7 in Doña Modesta S Gaisano St., Brgy Sudlon, Lahug Cebu City continue to face operational challenges that affect their efficiency and performance. This qualitative study explored the lived experiences of SOCO peronnel during crime scene operations, focusing on issues related to equipment shortages, limited manpower, time pressure, and adverse weather conditions. Using a descriptive phenomenological approach, data were gathered from ten (10) SOCO members through in-depth interviews and analyzed thematically. Findings revealed that SOCO personnel consistently prioritize evidence preservation and justice while maintaining coordination through teamwork and communication. Despite their dedication, they encounter persistent problems such as insufficient forensic tools, lack of manpower, and stress caused by time constraints and environmental factors. To manage these challenges, they rely on cooperation, coordination, and social support. The study emphasizes the need of modernize forensic tools, increase manpower, improve communication systems, and provide continuous training to sustain operational readiness.
