Ten cases were taken from Professional Core Cases, and nine from Case Stud-tes. Since Dr. Tom Fillmer, Professor Emeritus at University of Florida, and Dr. For-rest Parkay, Professor at Washington State University, had served as coauthors of the previous volumes, they also served in the same capacity for this book.

The 30 cases presented in this book are based on actual teaching situations con-tributed by many teachers from several states as either the "most difficult" or "most frequently recurring case they had faced. All names of people and places have been changed, and all cases have deliberately been left open-ended, problem centered, and unresolved in order to provoke stimulating discussion, analysis, and decision making.
