N2  - Summary: The purpose of this study is to find out the effects of selected GMA and ABS-CBN TV series to the academic performance of the selected first year students of Holy Child School.
Specifically, this study seeks answer to the following questions:
1. What is the effect of watching GMA  and ABS-CBN TV series to the first year students? 2. What are the advantages and disadvantages of GMA and ABS-CBN TV series to their study habits? 3. Are these GMA and ABS-CBN series really affecting their academic performance? 4. What is the relation of the effects of GMA and ABS-CBN TV series of the selected first year  students to their academic performance? 5. Is there a significant relationship between the TV series and academic performance to the first year students?

Hypotheses
(Ho) There is no significant relationship between the TV series and academic performance of the first year students.
(H1) There is a significant relationship between the TV series and academic performance of the first year students.

Scope and Delimitation of the study
The study is limited on the selected first year students of holy Child School at Poblacion, Lilo-an Cebu City.Questionnaires were used for data gathering and analysis to determine the effects of GMA and ABS-CBN TV series from 7:30 to 10:30 in the evening to the academic performance of the students.

Significance of the Study
This research may give significant information to the student. Hence, the study will shed them light on the appropriate program  to be applied in the present situation. This study may shed light, as t will reveal some problems.
This study is beneficial to the following:
1. The teachers. The teachers may also benefit from the study. The study will enable the teachers to know the effects of selected GMA and ABS-CBN TV series to the academic performance of the students which can encourage them to their studies.
2. The students. Knowing the effects of selected GMA and ABS-CBN TV series to their academic performance, students will be guided to have better time management to their students and also know their limit on watching TV
