The goal of this project, the drunk driver detection system for automobiles with voice recognition systems, is two-fold: to provide people who are stuck in heavy traffic a source of convenience in the voice recognition system, and to restrain intoxicated individuals from driving while under the influence of alcohol, and potentially endangering the lives and property of others, with the help of the drunk driver protection. To understand how the project works, the entire project can be split into two separate systems. the voice recognition system and the drunk driver detection system. The voice recognition system takes voice commands from the user with an android application, and then sends the voice command to the microcontroller for the command to be executed. The drunk driver detection system picks up traces of alcohol from the driver's breath and the air surrounding him and will act once the level of alcohol detected exceeds the threshold set in its microcontroller. Upon implementation of the project, the researchers found out that a single arduino board cannot handle both systems at once, so multiple arduino boards are used. The alcohol sensors used in the prototype are also highly sensitive within a small radius, making sensor placement very important. Sensors must be placed near the drivers seat for better accuracy and must be cleverly hidden to prevent any form of tampering to the drunk driver detection system ER -
