TI - A comparative study on the levels of comprehension between reading a novel and watching a film of University of Cebu Banilad IT students of the 2nd semester year 2005-2006 PY - 2006/// CY - Cebu City PB - University of Cebu N2 - Summary: The word comprehension is very familiar, yet some people never know what really it is. Comprehension is the grasping of the meaning of something, it could be through reading or watching or any comprehension skills. It is well established that language and thought are closely interlinked. Reading is, indeed, one of the mind's most complex achievements. It involves sophisticated reasoning and linguistic skills and has been described by the cognitive psychologist Ulrich Neisser as "externally guided thinking". The individual being educated develops physically, mentally, emotionally, morally, and socially. The goals of reading are wide-ranging, but essentially the reader aims to understand the meaning of a written text, evaluate its significance, and use what he or she has read to enhance his or her knowledge, effectiveness, or pleasure ER -
