TI - Common health problems of University of Cebu-Banilad faculty PY - 2010/// CY - Cebu City PB - University of Cebu N1 - Thesis (Degree Bachelor of Science in Nursing) -- University of Cebu-Banilad, 2010 N2 - Summary: This study aimed to determine the common health problems encountered by the University of Cebu-Banilad faculty. It is anchored in Judith Smith's Clinical Model. The model defines health as the lack of signs and symptoms of pathology. A researcher - made questionnaire was used to gather data from the faculty members, in order to determine the common health problems of the University of Cebu-Banilad Campus educators. The research took place inside the University of Cebu-Banilad Campus. The first part of the questionnaire pertained to the profile of the respondents. For the second part, it pertained to the common health problems of the University of Cebu-Banilad Faculty., where in the respondents were asked to check on the following problems that they have experienced for the past three months. The computed data revealed that majority of the respondents belong to the twenty to forty years old age group with a percentage of 82.6%. It is also observed that females make up 64.3% of the total respondents and that 53.9% of the respondents are single. Majority of the respondents are Bachelor's degree holders with a percentage of 74.8%. The researcher identified the top five common health problems experienced by the University of Cebu-Banilad Faculty Members are.the experience of headache especially after reading which is in the first rank, second is the experience of having increased in respiration especially in climbing the stairs, third is having a weight gain of 10% of the ideal body weight, both in the fourth rank is the experience of having a muscle ache whenever doing a task and having allergies to food or dust, fifth in place is the experience of having loose bowel movement. The researchers were able to fond out that some components of the respondent's profile shows significant relationship to the common health problems experienced by the University of Cebu-Banilad Faculty Members for the past three months, namely, the respondent's age, gender and civil status. However, the respondents' educational attainment does not show significant relationship to the common health problems experienced by the respondents for the past three months. With these findings, the researchers recommend that the University Administrators conduct promotive and preventive programs for the benefit of the employees and to the institution itself. The researchers also recommend that the faculty members of the university submit themselves regularly for the health assessment and comply to follow-up visits of medications prescribed by the physicians. Lastly, the researchers also recommend that profiling may be continuously implemented and will be directed to the Dean, the Faculty Members, the institution as a whole and to the future researchers.
